How to make a Quadesuit

                When I started to make my quadsuit I noticed that there wasn’t a “How to-” on it, so I was walking blind into the world of creating quadsuits. I made a lot of mistakes that you can avoid, and have a fun time making your quadsuit. If you have any questions just comment it and I’ll do my best to answer.

The steps involved in making a quadsuit includes:

                If you haven’t decided what you want your quadsuit to be, then the best place to start is to look at what others have done! Looking at others work is one of the best ways to spark your imagination. There are many different types of quadsuits like: realistic animals, monsters, Pokémon, and movie based costumes like Toothless the dragon.
 Think of something you really feel passionate about, and have that “anything is possible” attitude. If you really like what you’re making then your costume will seem to be less exhausting and it’ll be so much easier to finish. It is a good idea to keep the “anything is possible” attitude to keep you from having creators-block.

Design

                Now that you have an idea of what you want, it’s time to break out the old pencil and paper.  The best way to go about designing, and possibly the only way, is by drawing several different views of your costume. Now you don’t need to be an artist to do this successfully, as long as you understand what your drawing means, then you’re good to go. Your designs should be like an instruction manual, but it should have more sketches then words. You are probably going to change some of your designs later on, and that’s ok, just keep record of all your designs in a folder or someplace where you can keep track of them.

Working off your Designs

Now that you know what you want your costume to look like, you can start putting it together. There are many ways to put your quadsuit together, I’ve thought of 2 different ways. One way you can start is dividing on one of three basic parts of your costume (The Head-region, Mid-section, or the Tail-region. Each different region has different parts, they are;

Head-Region: head structure/base, head mechanics, eyes, ears, horns/spikes, teeth, noise, neck padding

Mid-Section: Front legs/ Stilts, stilt Paws/talons/hooves, Padding (Shoulder, sides, front legs), wings

Tail-Region: Hind legs, Hind Paws, thigh padding, tail
                Or you can start with the overall layers of your quadsuit, such as; Base  (in most cases the only bases are the head/skull and paws, Mechanics (Stilts and other moving parts), Padding , Fur, and finishing touches (claws, teeth, spikes, horns)

I'll post tutorials as I go, and if your looking for a specific one just ask and I'll get to you as soon as I can!
